2007 73k Steering Rack/pump whine on right full lock

Well 5 yrs of absolutely no issues javascript:emoticon('Very Happy') unlike many and 73k miles the dreaded steering rack whine has finally caught up with me. Crying or Very sad javascript:emoticon('Crying or Very sad')

Had it flushed with new reservoir/filter no difference, new rack/reservoir quoted £950 but latest Landrover bulletin according to dealer is now saying don't replace the pump. Don't believe this and I have asked for the whole system to be replaced, can't believe this on a car with no serious off-roading and a lot of motorway driving (which thinking about maybe why is has not surfaced earlier'), all those reasonably straight roads not working the rack.
Slightly worried about that batch of dodgy pumps lurking around earlier this year and hoping I don't get landed with one

There was a known issue with some early Freelander 2's which will include your 07 reg. Issue was with welds on the steering arm braking up and resulting in a blocked power steering filter. Initial response is to change filter and flush, then change reservoir and filter and finally change the whole system.
Had the whole system changed on my 07 reg at 3 years old and it was fine afterwards.

Had the pump replaced under extended warranty earlier this year but sounds like it's going again. Back to dealer next week.
