Australia 2007 Freelander 2 i6 SE Auto Tambora Flame

Thanks for the responses.

I took the wheel off and backed the hand-brake mechanise right off via the hole in the disc. Noted that there were still some minor 'friction' at one point in the rotation, but much less than previous.

Will have a good listen in the next day or two to see if the annoying noise I hear when driving is gone. Will report back when I have any news. 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

Doh! The annoying noise is definitely still there when driving.

The source of the noise must be in the drive somewhere. The problem is, there are certain roads where it is much worse so I somehow have to drive a mechanic out to one of those roads to get them to hear it. (I still don't believe it is tyres, I think the road noise just masks the noise on certain roads).

Again, will keep people updated with progress! 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

The Freelander 2 use the same wheel bearing as the FL1 , (part Number the same I sure)

They can be a problem Big Cry talking from experience.

They make a rumbling noise when driving and often show no play in the bearing.

You can only change them your self if you have a press . Big Cry

Just a bit of a follow up to this.

The noise is still there. I took it to an independent LR mechanic (Acacia Ridge, QLD, for those wanting to know) and he came for a quick drive (he was too busy to actually look at the car that particular day). He swore is was just tyre noise!!!

Anyways, that weekend I moved the front wheels to the back and the back to the front and the bloody noise moved to the front. Also noticed some vibration in the steering and pedal box too.

Ordered a new Goodyear Wrangler (17") before xmas and have been waiting for it being shipped from Sydney (WTF) and I am so sick of that tyre supplier (JAX Quickfit, Bowen Hills) that I think I will just order two new different tyres for the front and stick the good front tyre on the spare.

Anyways, the dodgy wheel isn't out of balance (checked twice by two different mechanics recently) so it must be buckled or the tyre must be oval or something???

Will hopefully post one final follow up when I have a new tyre (or two) to report that the noise is gone Shocked 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.

Had two new Pirelli Scorpion ATRs put on the front wheels. Noise is gone and the whole car seems a little quieter. In fact, I now notice the rears making a noise only. Wish I had put something other than Wranglers on when I replaced the rears about 9 months ago!

The tyre mechanic felt the tread on the old tyres and was confident that this was the cause of my noise problem. He described it as 'undulating' but I think what he meant is that it was like a 'saw-tooth' in shape. 1st time FL2 owner. 2007 SE i6 in Tambora Flame.
