I've used HDC and gradient release on a down hill slope but not tried it for a traditional hillstart. And yes it's as simple as it seems to-be in the manual. You just need faith. |

I've used it both downhill and uphill in a manual Freelander 2 and also an Auto.

I think it was developed because the handbrake is rubbish - or more specifically will not work as well in wet conditions as the traditional transmission brake. |

Tried it on the way to work this morning. Its the crutch bit i was not doing and it worked a treat.
