Almost time for the clay bar

Despite all my best efforts, i've a few swirls appear over the winter. And i'm very careful when washing.
I've not got a DA polisher but i don't mind spending time removing them by hand.
Any suggestions of the best product to use?
I used Meg scratchX before, sort of worked but I wasn't happy with the results. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Hi Greg might be worth having a look on Detailing Wold, like you I have a few swirls and also the odd scratch ( thank you Mr Freelander1)

You could try Meg's Ultimate Compound or Autoglyms Super Resin Polish, although it wont remove the swirls it will just fill them, might be hard work by hand another to try is Dodo Juice Lime Prime, but that's also a filler

I have some Megs 205 coming this week,so will try and polish the scratches out, but will be using my DA. Will let you know how I get on, but will probably weekend after next as I'm away all weekend

Ive got some Poor boys black hole which I really recomend on any dark colour paint.

As with the others it is more of a filler, but it does a good job of hiding the swirls

I've used Megs scratch X also and I always end up getting the T - cut out on the deep stuff - it might be harsh but it works!!

I think without a DA you might have your work cut out... and if anything, using something like scratch X by hand is more than likely to introduce other blemishes Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

I've recently used some Megs SwirlX on a couple of scratches and some swirls and it seems to have worked very well. The scratches were removed quite easily yet when I tried T-Cut on them it didn't do much good at all! It's a case of taking your time and a lot of elbow grease - unless you have a DA polisher!  2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles.

I use Acrylic Jett trigger on my car, I recently tried it on the wifes car, just the bonnet to see what happened, the bonnet was dreadful with swirl marks.
Using Autoglym super resin polish, by hand first and then layering the acrylic jett, 2/3 layers over a couple of hours has removed >90% of the marks. The polymer jett spray will fill the swirls and is ridiculously easy to use.
Personally I think filling swirls is preferable to constant polishing, especially machine polsihed, the paint is thin to start with, each polish just makes it thinner.

The Freelander has regular top ups, have just ordered some more, PolishedBliss.co.uk have a 3 for 2 offer at the moment, in conjunction with snow foam and very little sponging is keeping the paint very clean. The sides are starting to feel a little rough with tar spots etc so I might invest in IronX and try that for the pitted paint rather than clay? then the acrylic polymer will fill the micro holes that are left, just a though.

Fingers crossed for decent weather Friday night so I can get a coat on it before the meet on Saturday

Yeah, doing it without a DA is going to take some elbow grease. Don't know whether to invest in a machine; there is a proffesional chap nearby but he aint cheap. At least it would be done properly.

never used Clay, I must try it, Toeknee recomended some a while back.
