Did anybody of you choose or is chosing between the new outlander and the new freelander?

I guess I will turn my back to the expensive Freelander and go for the cheaper outlander.

Who agrees / Who doens't?

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Haven't driven an outlander, but there's a good review/comparison in Whatcar for february - maybe also available on whatcar.com. Outlander came last, behind Freelander and new CRV.

On the outlander front, the pros were: Sharp handling; slick gearshift; roomy cabin; looks the part. The cons were: Not as refined or classy as the others; uncomfy fold-out seats.

Also out of the three, it's expected to have the lowest residuals - yes, the Freelander may be more expensive, but it's residuals are much better.

I suppose it depends on what you want, and how much you're prepared to spend !

Captain Sugar,

Im not sure the new 2.2 diesel for the Outlander will be indentical. It will probably be based on the same Ford PSA diesel but this engine has been modified by Land Rover (only one turbo versus two on the engine in the Peugeot 407). This new diesel for the Outlander will probably also be fitted in the new 4x4's Peugeot and Citroën are releasing in the coming months. These three cars will be based on the 4x4 technology of Mitsubishi.

I can only give you the same advice as boiledgnat.

Freelander 2 Td4 SE Stornaway Grey with GPS (colors are not matched: blue for GPS and Green for radio and dashboard). Also a pity that the touchscreen doesn't also control the radio as p.ex. in the new Ford Galaxy....

I saw the new outlander and Shogun at a dealers last weekend. While the outlander does look like a nice car it is very L200 like inside not a patch and I mean not a patch on the Freeie. Fiona
