Which Mts fit? Do I get with a 19'' Mt oder a 17'' Mt more groundclearance? Daniel

Get 17" GS 5 Spoke Alloys - they used to call them in the Swiss brochure "Style 2" and they came with tyre size 235/65 R17. These are probably the strongest FL2 wheel for any off roading and give excellent wheel arch clearance for all that snow you will plough through here. They are also very easy to keep clean.

With 19" fashion alloys you'll keep kerbing them when parking and they will look a mess in a very short space of time. Most importantly they leave less wheel arch clearance for the natural expulsion of snow n mud - not good when you're having fun off road.

The 19" 235/55/19 have a 3.8mm larger diameter than the standard 235/65/17 so only 1.9 mm closer to the wheel arch. So basically an inch less rubber and an inch more rim top and bottom.

Are you sure that they (any) manufacture MTs in 235/55/19 size?

Sorry, I"m not sure of any brands in 19" rims, especially outside Australia. I've never been interested in larger rims at all. Anyone wanting to adventure off road is always trying to off load them for standard 17's I have Geolander A/T-S on with 70,000 kms clocked up and I think there looks to be another 15,000 kms at least left on them. The factory Wrangler HT's only lasted 50,000 kms. I don't do much stop start driving and I think it lets you get more out of brakes and tyres. My first brake pads lasted nearly 100,000 kms.

I would love to see a Freelander 2 with muddies! I suspect it would look very cool. Mike - my father has already got 70,000Klms with his A/T's on his Landy Ute and there's still at least 5mm left (Dunlops from memory). Nonetheless, your mileage has meant I will definitely put the Geolander's on the list when my current Bridgestone Dueler A/T's expire (hopefully in a long time also!). In the meantime, they haven't let me down on grip anywhere offroad or on.

Nothing wrong with Duelers. My son has them on his Jeep and very happy. As for muddies in the FL2 17" there are very few options. I have shied away from them anyway because they are noisy and don't wear as well as AT's. Cheers

Love the look of the Muddies - I reckon it makes the LR2 look like it's supposed to go offroad. I'd love to try them. The Mondeo rims look OK and open up opportunities for other designs perhaps.

@Mounty - I recently installed General Grabber AT2s on my 18" rims. Definitely get the smallest rims you can find (it was hard to find anything for 18s).
