United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

I can see why the i6 was dropped, £430+ for road tax, sub 20mpg average. But that is what you get with a 6 cylinder engine in an SUV.

The 2.0 Turbo is approx £230 to tax, mid to late 20's mpg is easily possible with up to 40 on a run.

BMW and Audi off this on X3 and Q5 and they sell in decent numbers. I think the FL2 would sell well in 2.0 turbo. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Called in at my local dealer with the family to have a look at what's on offer, MY2012 8 speed D4 XS and the Evoque caught my attention, but ruled the Evoque out on size of boot and how small the car actually looks when discussing it with the wife, ruling out D4 on purly on MPG for my local round town runs which kills the FL2's so god know what it would be like on that

The RRS caught my eye too but the autobiography prices on them were out of my budget, I don't like buy cars older that what I currently have, but I may have too, but that would be following my heart not my mind

Gutted, as I don't really want another freelander 2 Sad

Well, not in it's current form anyway, no sales staff available to enquire on MY2012 changes, but I just think it looks so dated interior wise when comparing it to the MY2012 D4 & RRS and Evoque, they would have to do something special to it for me to swap, even if you blinged it with the Sports LE bodykit which suits it loads more than the old HST

Guess I'm stuck with this till they swap it Yawn or a find another brand that ticks as many boxes, Neutral Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

npinks - i know exactly the dilema you are facing as i was in the same boat this time last year, FL2 lease running out in 4 months and having to decide on replacement. Another FL2 was tempting, especially as it had the new nose treatment but was disappointed that the interior hadnt been updated, the D4 was too big and too thirsty, the RRS out of my price range but also too big for what I needed, the Evoque wouldnt exist for another 6 months after mine went back so was out of the question. Alternatives - looked at the new BMW X3 but to spec if upto a FL2 HSE put another £12K on the £30K asking price!!! The Audi Q5 was very tempting, a love the interior, front and rear end treatment but on profile is looks yuk and have heard that its too firm a ride, also to spec it up to HSE levels would cost alot more than a FL2!

In the end I went for another FL2, my first one was great and this new SD4 version is even better, its lovely to drive, comfy to be in and has all the spec I need, I only wish it has been given a slight makeover internally as it is seriously trailing other marques and even its own (step into a Evoque, D4, RRS or FFRR and it will make you see how low rent it is!)

In another 2 years time I will be facing the dilema again, will the FL3 be around by then? Might even have to consider a five door Evoque.... Embarassed

This persuaded me into the RRS, even through it has similar dash controls to an fl2. just couldnt get inspired to spend 28k ish on a similar car to what I already had, especially after seeing the evoque interior.

RSS has what it takes for me to forgive the dated controls, air suspension full leather Cool At work

well, i only looked as if the evoque ticked the boxes i might have had to place the order for next year delivery when i wanted to change

I will wait till the time comes to swap, no official date or end of lease as the cars paid for, but the warranty runs out end of June next year, so its a case of swap then or buy extended warranty and wait a while longer to see what unfolds on the FL2 or 3, can't see any major interior change till the FL3 though

And come then they might be a few more ex-demo/pre reg'd MY2012 RRS' or D4 about with the new 8 speed auto box which is supposed to be a great Very Happy Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Npinks, the Evoque is what you want, great drive & place to sit, plus in huge demand so you may not lose too much ca$h, but agree boot a tadcsmall, but good enough if you don't have a dog or pack a suitcase regularly. My vote is, buy a 2010MY+ RRS 3.0 HSE. Be Less money than a new FL2, plus you will get a better mileage than an auto FL. 2010MY Freelander 2 HSE Auto

I'm sure there will be a demand for a smaller size petrol engine as more and more people will be fed up with bunged up DPF's
I for one will not be getting another oil burner until someone gets this ridiculious technology sorted. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I would agree with Pegleg about the DPF. If diesels are no longer suitable for urban living LR have to make a modern fuel/co2 efficient petrol engine available for the FR2 in the UK...... JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.
Gone - A great 57 Plate, Auto SE, Bought Feb 2009, Roof Rails and Mudflaps added on purchase. Blue colour, anything but drug dealer black.....
