Ready to change tyres and noticed the O/E Michelin Lattitues' are 108H rated.
According to the manual and the sticker on the drivers side 'B' post, the tyres should be V rated.

What is right? Could having H rated tyres invalidate my insurance?

I was thinking of changing to Lattitude Cross but are only available in H rate. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

From memory, the tyres should be V rated, unless you have 16" wheels, when the OEM tyres are H rated.

17 inch wheels can be either 104H or 108V.
18 inch wheels and above are all V rated according to the label on the drivers door pillar.

Looked on Michelin website which recommends both V and H for Freelander2.

Spoke to a tyre dealer today who said H rate is fiine.
Although there is still 3mm or so on all four, i'm temped to change before the bad weather particulary as ATS are offering 25% off a set of four. Athough their initial price is not competitve, it certainly is with the offer. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

H means 130 MPH (210 km/h) max. speed capability
V means 150 MPH (240 km/h) max. speed capability

Are you sure you won't exceed those speeds in your FL2?

My contract hire company or their appointed tyre fitters, Kwik Fit, will not allow me to specify H rated replacement tyres as Land Rover specify V rated tyres for vehicles with rims of 17" or over.

The fact that I will not drive in excess of 130mph is irrelevant as far as the contract hire company and my insurers are concerned, it's simply down to what the OEM specified in the first place.

Maybe to make sure you'll get a quality tire for a car that is quite heavy and sometimes go off-road too...
And the bigger the load index the more masive/strong the tire is. And mass and speed combined = second mortage for the house for a set of tires...

Someone once told me that a freelander will almost do 130mph!

That's exactly what i'm worried about. Odd thing is the the O/E tyres from L/R are 108H rated. From that i can only assume that H is okay?

Everything in their spec charts insists on a V rating, which is a pain as virtually all of the tyres with an off road bias are H rated.

Could LR have turned a blind eye during a time of supply shortage at the factory?

Maximum specified speed is 124 MPH (200 KPH) for gasoline and 112 MPH (181 KPH) for diesel.

I suppose that they specified H and above for covering both versions and also take a little room. (For the ones who goes mostly downhill )

There are loads of owners on this forum who have A/T tyres fitted. And Mich website says H is okay.
