I bought one from stock, and was told by the dealer that the factory had stopped producing Freelanders until the Evoke backlog (5,000) is clear. It is likely this will mean 12 week delivery times at the moment.

Don't forget that Halewood has all the cars for Sept.1 delivery to build, then there are the 18000 Evoques that have been sold to build before they think about building more Freelanders How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

Thanks for the responses! Still waiting a build date despite ordering in April so will use some of your examples to challenge dealer on why he cannot provide me with a delivery date.

If you're buying through LR Military Sales then unlikely you'll get an off road driving voucher from them. If from a 'normal' dealer then it's worth asking for one. The last experience 1/2 day I did was a great introduction to what the Freelander can do and the current Experience Freelanders are SD4 HSE. There is a thread on Land Rover Experience Centres which you might find useful if you get a free voucher. |

Thanks mate - I am buying through Landrover Military Sales and rest assured, I will be pressing them hard for an off road experience for me and the long haired general. I'll let you know how I get on. |

Likewise, I have ordered an SD4 HSE in Orkney Grey. Ordered end of May and due 30 August - I hope! Regarding Land Rover Experience days, I was offered one by phone some while ago and I am going to Honiton this Friday as it happens. When I asked if it was because I was buying a new model, they knew nothing about it. I think my name 'went into the hat' because I had requested a brochure. I think it is a pretty random system and you have to get lucky. BTW, I saw a FL2 in Orkney Grey recently at my local dealer (a cancelled order). I was very happy with the colour and prefer it to Stornaway. It is a shade lighter and can almost be described as a dark silver. I'm sure it will be very popular. |
