Can any of the forum members recommend a reliable window tinter in the Derby area and any idea of cost? Had my 09 done at dealers when bought new and have just got a second freely and want to get it tinted but not at £300+

I have had last 2 FL's done by same small private firm in Glasgow, £180 including front door windows with UV reduction film. He partially removes door cards to get film far enough down. Medium tint B pillar back and UV on front doors light tint and legal.

Check any motorsport preparation specialists as now mandatory for all rally cars to have glass side windows filmed. All FL2's (3) Gone

bathers - agree with druand £180 +/- from the 'B' pillar backwards - door cards have to be removed for a proper job.

druand - I was told the current tint per factory is at the legal limit so surprised at you saying a tad darker on the front doors is still legal, but if you've researched it then no probs. I'm going to look into it too as there is a big jump from factory tint on my front doors and medium from the 'B' back (See my gallery to see the difference) .

Film on front windows is just tinted and no more, it is special film for UV reduction, office, shop windows etc.
This is fitted for medical reasons and advised by dermatology unit. All FL2's (3) Gone

Forgot to mention
Some national companies who fit film at home,office local garage etc (£250-280) bring the kit ready cut and do NOT part remove door cards. They use a spatula type tool instead.
Another main problem is if one is not best cut or damaged fitting they have no spare with them. All FL2's (3) Gone

I woulnd't have thought that you need UV tint up in Scotland. Shutters, perhaps, but no UV protection

Last 2 weeks wall to wall sunshine 20-23C some days.
We have palm trees growing in front garden and local farmers were digging new potatoes from shore fields 3rd week in May.
If you think I'm kidding look at Culzean Castle website to see palm trees growing. All FL2's (3) Gone

Hi Bathers, My vehicle was done at Executive Tints Ltd, Unit 41 Imex Business Park, Shobnall Road, Burton on Trent at a cost of £220 inc VAT. They did a super job and two years later still as good as new. Ralph
