Replacing 12v socket in boot

Just bought a replacement 12v socket including dust cap for the boot for the princely sum of £3.90 from my dealer. Looks straight forward to replace (just pulls out?) but has anyone done this before. Don't just want to use brute force if I really need to remove the trim. Probably a Q for Dunroof if you're reading this! Cheers in advance. mojo

You have an aux power socket in your boot? What model do you have?
I haven't had cause to change one (I don't even have one) but I imagine it's retained by spring loaded clips. Examining the new one should reveal its fixing method. It will likely pop out by prising it but not easily otherwise it would come out when withdrawing a plug.
Post a photo - let's have a look.

Sorry, just came across this. Should have PM'd me. Dead easy to do.

1. Open boot and take off plastic trim that runs across the boot. It has 6 plastic studs, Work from one end, gently pulling up.

2. Take the plastic trim off the nearside side boot trim by unscrewing the platic hex nut from bottom of the little tray and remove.

3. Unscrew/unbolt the metal D rings x 2.

4. Working from the bottom of the plastic side trim, gently pull the trim away. The three plastic trim pegs should come first. Remember once you get access behind this panel to unclip the electrical connectors for the boot light and the aux socklet. Then tug away for the other three plastic trim pegs over the wheel arch to the rear door.

5. You casn now replace the Aux Socker.

6. Refit is reversal.

Thanks all, only just seen the replies! Anyway, my dealer fitted it for free for me but the dog promptly chewed the cap off again so back to square one. Guess I'll just have to live with it. By the way, mines a MY10.

No socket in mine either.
Do all cars have the wiring in place so that I could retro-fit a socket Question
