no idea, but I have linked a couple of my videos recently comparing my OEM xenons to a light that I fitted.

It may be worth noting for people interested in changing the bulbs in their Xenon headlights that if you have Xenons in lights pre MY13 (without the signature LED DRL's) the bulb fitment is D1S. If you have MY13 onwards Xenon lights with signature DRL the fitment is D3S. I would say from my experience that the D1S OEM bulbs tend to be a much crisper white, even when the Kelvin rating of the bulbs is 4300K. I believe this is due to the fact that D1S bulbs (slightly older technology) have Mercury in them. All D3S OEM bulbs that I have seen with 4300K colour temperature appear to have a much more yellow hue to them, ..IMO they don't match the DRL's well. Osram now have a Cool Blue Intense variant of the D3S (66340CBI, production began in 2014) though they are still very expensive for what they are at around £175 per bulb! For me the best choice is the Philips X-Treme Vision D3S, which you can buy for around £85 each and ithey have a Kelvin rating of 4800K. After a burn in period of around 30 hours it emits a lovely pure white light and the output on even the darkest of roads is excellent. |

I had HIDs on on my BMW - they were awesome - but does one really need to upgrade these lights for normal road use ? - they can really blind the oncoming traffic.

I have been told that 4300K is the best for light output. Does anyone have 6000k xenons fitted with a picture of them in the dark? Have you noticed the difference in the light output by any chance? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

My old Peugeot 504 had 4 x 7" round headlights, 2 x 55 watt low/high outer & the inner 2 were 130 watts each. You could feel heat at 2 metres easily. The light output really puts modern headlight to shame. I also prefer the warmer light of halogen. But that probably comes about due to photography. I should stick my 2000 watt Arri on the front of the car, a portable sun! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device! Merged ![]() I upgraded mine last year to Phlips higher output ones, they made little difference, the whole light assembly on <MY13 cars is a different make to that previously used and in my opinion much worse. The beam pattern is crap and there are many weird colours in the light, I believe it may be due to the reflector burning? I would need to take it out and have a look. The HID on my MY11 car was way better. |

I have bought a pair of Philips X-tremeVision halogen +100% 3350k colour temperature a few weeks ago. Have not got around to sticking them in yet. Hopefully they will be a touch brighter. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
