I know EY mentioned this recently with regard to auto so it isn't just a manual thing. Anyway, I needed to pull out to go around a roundabout rather promptly due to the sudden emergence of a transit van doing mach 3.

Did you have the brakes pressed within a couple of seconds of going? |

No Taz, I was committed and so had started pulling out when the supersonic van emerged so I simply floored it with no hesitation but there was nothing.

Enjoy the joy of less and less polluting cars and electronic driven injection.

I understand torque is limited in 1st gear - maybe this is a factor? 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

What were the engine revs when this was happening? The 2.2 diesel does seem to have the flat-spot-from-hell under around 1,500rpm, where is seems to produce only just enough power not to stall! |

Don't know tigger. I was too concerned by the Saturn V Transit Van to pay close attention to the rev counter but if I can find a suitable place, I might try and repeat the process. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Sounds like a bad case of turbo lag. John

I think its as Alex stated, the old days a stamp of the accelerator was accompanied by a puff of black smoke as it attempted to burn the overdosed fuel input, now the electronics of an engine prohibit smoke, soot, over injection etc, and it all makes for a sedate getaway ![]() The cars emissions control is not allowing what we want to do in certain circumstances. |
